Jennifer attained her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Special Education (K-12) at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and her graduate degree in Early Intervention and Family Support (Birth-K) with a concentration in Social Inclusion at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Jennifer’s experience includes working with learners of all ages. As a Learning Specialist at the All Kinds of Minds Student Success Center and a Field Learning Liaison with The Duke Endowment Learning Initiative, she conducted assessments of, developed personalized management plans for, and demystified hundreds of struggling learners. As an Instructional Designer with the Schools Attuned Program, Jennifer designed professional development experiences for K-12 educators. The majority of Jennifer’s tenure at All Kinds of Minds focused on developing and delivering Understanding All Kinds of Minds, a program created to develop an alliance between parents and caregivers, educators, and children to support success.
Currently, Jennifer is an independent learning specialist and educational consultant, providing academic coaching and tutoring to students, organizing adults, designing instruction, and performing neurodevelopmental assessments. While Jennifer takes pride in providing services to illuminate learning through educational consulting and instructional design, her greatest occupational joy is being a living example that sometimes those weaknesses that served as roadblocks in school can manifest as motivators and strengths later in life.
Jennifer provides consultation related to report interpretation, identification of resources and services, special education process navigation, and moral support free of charge to adults supporting minority children with learning differences.
